Top Liquid Makeup Liners for Face Charting

When creating face charts, liquid makeup products such as liners are must-haves for adding fine details, bold outlines, and vibrant pops of color. Whether you're crafting striking eyeliner designs or defining sharp edges, the right products can elevate your face charts to a professional level.

Below, I’ll share a few essential liquid products and liners perfect for face charting. While we go into more detail in the Makeup Designer Academy’s Face Chart Course, this blog highlights my favorite tools to help you get started.

Why Use Liquid Liners for Face Charting?

Liquid products, such as eyeliners are ideal for precision work and vibrant color application. They allow for sharp, defined lines and create a polished look on face charts, making them essential for detailed designs. For highlights, shimmer, and mimicking the shine of liquid makeup products, white liquid liners are one of my top favorites, to name one.

What to Look for in Liquid Makeup Products and Liners

  • Pigmentation: High-pigment products ensure bold, vibrant colors, and deep blacks or whites, that stand out on paper.

  • Precision Applicators: Look for fine tips or brush applicators for maximum control.

  • Fast-Drying Formulas: Avoid smudging by choosing products that dry quickly on your face chart paper.

Top Liquid Makeup Products & Liners for Face Charting

Here are my go-to liquid products and liners that bring face charts to life.

  1. NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Epic Ink Liner

I’ve been using these black, waterproof liquid eyeliners by NYX Cosmetics for years now, even before publishing the facechart book back in 2020

  2. NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Lift & Snatch Eyebrow Tint Pen, Ash Brown

Great for all fine lines, especially versatile due to its color and tapered brush.

  3. NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Epic Wear Colored Liquid Liner

Any color of these waterproof liquid liners are great. These have extreme coverage and vibrant colors.

  4. NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP White Liquid Liner

Here’s my absolute top favorite liner: The White one! It’s matte, and with it’s thin tip it allows you to work very precise.

Liza’s Tips for Using Liquid Products on Face Charts

  • For blacks, I prefer liners that dry up matte above shiny, Shiny ones can be disturbing and make it harder to take decent pictures.

  • Test your products on scrap paper to understand how they interact with the surface.

  • Let the liquid dry completely before adding other layers or details to avoid smudging.

  • A white liquid liner can make the difference, blow life into your face charts, and should be in your toolbox.

  • Use decent paper when using liquid products. Check this blog about paper for more info.

Closing Thoughts
