Kylie Jenner Makeup Look on a Face Chart
Kylie Jenne’s Iconic Makeup Look - FACECHART Drawing With Makeup
Let’s talk about this 'Kylie Jenner' makeup look recreated with makeup on paper. Anyone can learn how to do the 'Kylie Jenner look' like this facechart, and in this short blog I explain how to achieve it.
Some time ago, Liza was approached by a representative from Hearst Magazines because they were obsessed with Liza's content. The question was whether they could share content, but we had a better proposal; "If we create content especially for you, who would you most like to see?" The answer was quick and clear, there are many favorites, but if we have the choice, then preferably Kylie Jenner!
Kylie always looks sensational, is always hot and happening, and is highly sought after on all media channels. Liza has "done Kylie” many times before. "Ever since she came into her own on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I've been following her. Kylie has a very desirable appearance and pays a lot of attention to her makeup looks; it's always a joy to draw her." According to Liza. She chose to create this makeup face chart of the icon, a subtle natural look with a pop of color. By the way, a great makeup idea to try out for yourself.
What is a face chart?
Read this article to find out all about it.
The video was first posted on Hearst Sweet Snapchat, and most recently on the Seventeen TikTok.
Below you’ll find the complete video on Liza's own YouTube Channel, in which all steps are clearly shown.
In short, the description below gives you an idea of the process of drawing with makeup from this Kylie face chart. And which products and techniques have been used.
Once the outlines for the face chart template have been drawn and digitized, Liza then prints them out on decent fine art paper. The paper is very nice, soft, and feels like velvet.
What paper is used for makeup face charts?
When asked if it can't just be printed on paper, the face chart artist answers firmly: "No, this is where many go wrong right away and stop after their first attempt. Print paper is made to print on, that's all. " That is partly an answer to the big question: "what paper is used for makeup face charts." Not printing paper!
She then very skilfully uses stencils, which she cuts out herself with a surgeon's precision, "This prevents the product from getting where it is not wanted, and you can get nice defined edges with it." she says.
She fills everything within the stencil with a powder in a matching tone, using a thick buffing brush. It goes on subtle, building up, layer by layer, and with each layer creates more and more depth in the face.
If after some time the contours of the beautiful Kylie Jenner are visible, Liza applies a flush of color to the cheeks. With an eyeshadow in this case, while on a human face a blush would do the trick. This is also very gradual.
The tip is: build it up slowly; adding more product is no problem, but removing 'too much' will be difficult.
While the eyebrow shape is already made, also using those handy self-cut stencils, I am amazed at the smoothness of the transitions. My brain can't handle the fact that this is 'drawn with makeup.' It's so perfect, so beautiful, so unimaginable. "You can do it too, you know." In between, Liza says, "It's only 10% talent; the rest is technique and knowledge. Anyone can learn it" And she dips an applicator in a bright pink color and then applies it to the corners of the eyes. I'll just shoot a picture for now...
It radiates an enormous calm when Liza is 'face charting,' and that is because, in her own words, it works therapeutically. Like a kind of meditation. So in focus and connected with the makeup, that nothing else exists for a while. No daily worries.
When I come back after a while, after my break, the makeup artist beckons me, "I think you'll love to see this," and she waves a small white bottle to me. The 'Kylie' is almost finished, but it turns out that it's the final touches that blow the soul into it. "During masterclasses, this is more than once the moment for a standing ovation," she laughs, "while it's literally 1 second of work." And with the effectiveness of a plotter, she quickly places several white accents on the artwork.
Again, my breath is taken, NOW it looks 'alive.' In my opinion, THIS really falls within that ten percent talent...
What products to use to create the Kylie makeup look?
Below are some of the products that were used during this face chart session.
The NYX Cosmetics Can't Stop Won't Stop powder can be used to perfectly 'layer' and build up your complexion. A nice matte finish with minor spillage. No stains and imperfections, as you can see.
NYX Cosmetics Ultimate Shadow Palette is a pleasing palette with attractive colors. Liza Kondrevich uses this palette regularly to create bright-colored eyeshadow looks. Well, I happen to have this palette myself, and tell her that I'm afraid I won't be able to achieve this fierceness. It seems more pigmented or something. But Liza winks at me and says, "That's where knowledge comes in, pick the right base to apply your color to combined with the right applicator, et voila, let your colors pop out." And that doesn't just apply to face charts. All of those techniques are revealed in the book she published.
NYX Cosmetics White Liquid Liner is definitely one of Liza's favorites. This opaque, well-drying, white liner does not stick or tear. Very nice to apply in detail. White should be white, and this one definitely is!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette has some very rich pressed pigments that stay vibrant as long as you wear them. However, it can even be so tricky to remove on the skin that the color lasts a little longer than desired, I know from experience. All the better for use with paper face charts.
Makeup by Mario Master Pigment Pro Eyeliner Pencil A deep black professional eyeliner that works so efficiently and smudges wonderfully. This product is simply well thought out. For this 'Kylie face chart,' Liza uses it because a true black really makes the difference.
Facechart Drawing With Makeup the book that comes with a full video course, is indispensable if you are passionate about makeup, and the holy grail when it comes to learning how to do face charts.
I still find it very impressive looking, and it seems hard to achieve this level of makeup, but if I am to believe all the reviews about the Facechart book on TrustPilot, many seem to have succeeded. And by applying the knowledge and techniques explained in detail, I read that many have risen to a higher level in their all-over skills. So highly recommended.
